OUR SKI DISTRICT, OUR SLOPES AND OUR LIFTS ARE THE REAL STARS OF THIS EXTRAORDINARY EVENT

“ISTA SpA” and “Fondazione Cortina 2021” worked on the new sections of the men’s and ladies’ slopes for the DOWNHILL, SUPER-G AND GIANT SLALOM races scheduled for the Alpine World Ski Championships – Cortina 2021.

There are new sections to link the existing VALLON – VERTIGINE BIANCA – CANALONE – STRATOFANA OLIMPICA runs. These legendary slopes, which have earned a place in the skiing history books, have been modified and adapted to provide some spectacular world-class racing.

The Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom and the finish line are located between the Rumerlo area and Pomedes

LADIES’ RUN – STRATOFANA

Work on the ladies’ run involved adapting the existing slope to meet the recommendations of the international federation, FIS.

Space in the start areas has been increased and access for the athletes and their staff improved.

The run has been widened in a number of places to conform with safety and competition regulations.

MEN’S RUN – VERTIGINE

Unlike the ladies, the men race on a completely new slope which uses sections of existing runs (VALLON – VERTIGINE BIANCA – CANALONE), altering part of the course to meet competition requirements. Other completely new sections have been constructed to link the existing slopes.

The whole run has been designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape and will be adapted to the current morphology of the land, creating a varied competition-standard course. There will be changes in gradient, sections with counter slopes and jumps which are guaranteed to provide some thrills and spectacular world-class racing. Both the men’s and the ladies’ runs will converge at the finish line at Rumerlo.”
