OUR SKI DISTRICT, OUR SLOPES AND OUR LIFTS WILL BE THE REAL STARS OF THIS EXTRAORDINARY EVENT

“ISTA SpA and Fondazione Cortina 2021 have begun work on the new sections of the men’s and ladies’ slopes for the DOWNHILL, SUPER-G AND GIANT SLALOM races scheduled for the Alpine World Ski Championships – Cortina 2021.

LADIES’ RUN – STRATOFANA

Work on the ladies’ run involves adapting the existing slope to meet the recommendations of the international federation, FIS.

Space in the start areas will be increased and access for the athletes and their staff improved.

The run will be widened in a number of places to conform with safety and competition regulations.

MEN’S RUN – VERTIGINE

Unlike the ladies, the men will race on a completely new slope which will use sections of existing runs (VALLON – VERTIGINE BIANCA – CANALONE), altering part of the course to meet competition requirements. Other completely new sections will be constructed to link the existing slopes.

The whole run has been designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape and will be adapted to the current morphology of the land, creating a varied competition-standard course. There will be changes in gradient, sections with counter slopes and jumps which are guaranteed to provide some thrills and spectacular world-class racing. Both the men’s and the ladies’ runs will converge at the finish line at Rumerlo.”
